Last weekend we made the trek down to Southern Oregon to witness and celebrate the marriage of Lewis & Angalee. Lewis happens to be my bro-in-law and now I have a new sis-in-law! The wedding was at Union Creek Resort which is about an hour from Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Medford.
When I first heard the good news about this wedding and that they wanted me to photograph it I started getting really excited about all the possibilities. We could get some shots at Crater Lake and amazing locations along the Rogue River. As the wedding got closer, and as you all know, the weather did not warm up this spring like we had hoped. So Crater Lake was out because of too much snow. But hey, we still got all the amazing locations along the Rogue River right? Well, the day of the wedding finally arrives and what are we greeted with? 32° and snow! SNOW! There was about 4" of fresh snow and it came down hard until about 1pm.
While this did hinder the original plans of taking photos along the river and having the ceremony along the river, it did present an awesome opportunity. Some of the most memorable and fun photographs in the snow! It's not too often that a photographer gets to do portraits while it's snowing, especially here in Oregon.
By the time the ceremony began the sun had began to peek through and the snow was melting. It couldn't have been more perfect timing. The ceremony was held right next to the Union Creek Lodge and the reception was in the fireside room of the lodge. What a great day! Congrats to both of you and welcome to the family Angalee!
